Chapter 2

Many “Christians” profess they believe in Jesus Christ. Out of the right side of their mouth, they confess Jesus died for their sins, but out of the left side of their mouth, they do not believe Jesus set them free from living in the carnal mind, of the flesh, to no longer commit sin.

Many “Christians” profess they are saved by Grace, but by their own works must show they have faith. How can a man in the carnal mind, of the flesh, by his own works, save himself? The carnal mind, of the flesh, is unrighteous—lawless, disobedient, ungodly and rebellious.
Living in the carnal mind, of the flesh, is enmity against God. In the carnal mind, of the flesh, many believing in their works, which is not of faith and will sin and deceive others.

Living in the carnal mind, of the flesh, many live in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. They live in this world under the rule of Satan the devil.

"Jesus Christ gave a warning; “Take heed that no man deceive you.”"

Matthew 24:4

Lust of the Flesh

Many in this world are addicted to the things that cause and bring much pain, suffering, tears, heartaches and death. Addiction comes in many different forms and affects all—the rich, poor, men, women and children from all the different walks of life and of all ages.

Death is not something we enjoy; yet, it is freedom from living in this world without hope of eternal life. Many, even those who do not believe in God or are facing death wish for something or hope for something, not knowing there is hope in Jesus Christ. But it requires faith, a gift from God, through His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Helper, for any sinner to believe in Jesus, the Son of God.

Addiction affects people differently, from being peaceful and calm to being angry and filled with violent behaviors—committing various crimes, stealing, lying, cheating, coveting, committing adultery, robbery, and murder.

Jesus Died for You and for Me

Ephesians 2:8; For by grace (you have been) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:9; Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:10; For we are his (creation) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus (for) unto good works, which God hath before (prepared) ordained that we should walk in them.

Yes! Jesus died for our sins— shed His blood on the Cross—to set us free from the penalty of death. But just as important, Jesus removed, abolished, the carnal mind, of the flesh, and gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to not commit sin.

Are you living with the shame and guilt of your past sins for all the wrongs done to others? Is your conscience reminding you of all the past sins of your life?

Satan wants mankind to live in the carnal mind, of the flesh, to not believe in the works of God and continue to sin.
