As part of today’s GRACEforUs Sunday Bible Study Series lesson, we focus on the powerful theme of living with gratitude, guided by the wisdom of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

We have mentioned in the past couple of Sunday School lessons that with our daily busyness and number of distractions, it is sometimes easy to overlook the blessings that surround us.

Rejoice Always

The command to “rejoice always” encourages us to find joy in every situation. This doesn’t mean ignoring the difficulties we face, but rather recognizing that joy can coexist with challenges. True joy stems from our relationship with God, who remains constant through all of life’s ups and downs.

Pray Continually

Continual prayer is about maintaining an ongoing conversation with God. It’s not limited to specific times or places but woven into the fabric of our daily lives. Through prayer, we can seek God’s guidance, express our gratitude, and find comfort in His presence.

Give Thanks in All Circumstances

Gratitude in all circumstances can be challenging, especially during tough times. However, giving thanks helps shift our focus from our problems to God’s faithfulness. It reminds us of His provision and care, even in the midst of trials. A heart of gratitude fosters contentment and strengthens our faith.

Today, here is a Bible study page to use as part of your Gratitude Journal. Write down three things you are thankful for each day of the week ahead. You will find this simple, yet powerful practice, encourage you to both recognize and remember God’s blessings.

Encouragement for this Week

Take time each day of this week to thank God for His blessings and to rejoice in His goodness. Remember, gratitude is not just for the good times but for all times. It’s a powerful way to align our hearts with God’s will and to live out our faith in practical ways.
